Our Work

The Conservancy works in a number of ways to fulfill its mandate of conserving the ecological and cultural heritage and distinctive landscapes of the Kawartha bioregion. The Conservancy:

  • Accepts donations of land, or holds conservation agreements on privately-held properties, to ensure conservation of important ecological and cultural features
  • Provides information and referrals for landowners wishing to conserve key ecological and cultural features through stewardship initiatives on their own land including information on tax benefits
  • Offers information and advice on ecological and cultural conservation and tax benefits to government agencies, and community organizations
  • Provides information and referrals to the public
  • Develops programs to focus research and conservation efforts on particular ecological features, cultural areas or types of land
  • Partners with educational institutions and community organizations to conduct research on issues relating to ecological and cultural conservation
  • Informs and supports action that promotes long-term conservation of natural and cultural features in the Kawartha bioregion
