Donating Land

A donation of land to the Conservancy can ensure long-term conservation of a property and the landowner’s stewardship investment. As the recipient, the Conservancy takes on the responsibility of managing the land for conservation purposes.  Landowners benefit from significant potential tax benefits. In some instances it may provide an opportunity to avoid potential family disputes over the property and its disposition.

As with stewardship and conservation agreements, donations of property to the Conservancy can vary in their detail, as determined by the landowner:

  • All or part of the property can be donated
  • The donor may choose to continue living on and using the property
  • A donation can be made through a will

For an example of a donation please see our Properties page.
