Board of Directors

Roslyn Moore – President and Chair

Roslyn Moore is a project management consultant, providing services to government and community groups in the areas of program and policy development, strategic planning, multi-stakeholder consultation and fundraising. Her background includes ecosystem research and computer mapping of geographic data. Roslyn is a founding member of the Clear/Stony/White Lake Plan Environment Council.

Ralph McKim – Director (Past President)

Ralph McKim is an international development consultant with expertise and experience in water supply and sanitation, environmental project planning, training and consultation. He is a keen naturalist and enjoys skiing, hiking and restoring ecosystem functions on his diverse Oak Ridges Moraine property near Bethany.

Garry Lean – Director

Garry Lean is an independent organic inspector and a long-time educator in the environmental field. Gary has conducted more than 2000 inspections of farms, food processing plants and gardens across Ontario and is a partner in Ecosystems Etc., a company providing educational and consulting services to organic food producers. Gary recently retired from Fleming College, where he spent 25 years developing and teaching courses in the areas of agroecology and ecosystem management. He has more than 30 years of practical experience in organic agriculture at his own farm, where he grows vegetables and raises beef and horses.

Debbie Mack – Director

Debbie Mack is a business development professional with a special interest in merging ecological technologies and business interests. Her experience also includes creating and implementing turn-key operations in the entertainment and edutainment industries. Debbie has a personal commitment to ecological stewardship and is applying permaculture techniques to restore her property on the Indian River in the Kawartha bioregion. She brings experience with land stewardship and business development from past association with other Ontario land trusts.

Steven C. Bark – Director

Steve is a seasoned chartered accountant who has managed his own public accounting practice for over 20 years. Steve has extensive experience working with small and medium-sized businesses to grow and protect their business. Steve is also an Auditor for a number of non-profit organizations and financial service companies and understands the importance of fiscal controls and sound financial planning. As a member and immediate Past-President of the Peterborough Estate Planning Council, Steve has an in-depth knowledge of estate planning.  He recognizes that taxation has a significant and pervasive influence on wealth generation and preservation.

John Platt – Director

John is a Psychologist who has been associated with the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry and more recently with the Peterborough Regional Health Center as the director of its Psychology Department. He began a full-time private practice about 18 years ago. John has broad psychology interests and more recently has been dealing with the assessment and treatment of post-trauma presentations, wherein he has served as the president of the Canadian Psychologists in that field and also headed the local psychology association. Besides psychology, John has a keen interest in environmental issues. He has played a key role in the establishment of a local provincially-significant wetland as well as in the development of the Clear-Ston(e)y-White Lakes Plan. He has also been involved with the Kawartha Lakes Stewards Association and the MNR Zone 17 Fishing Regulations Council.

Diane Wolf – Director

Diane Wolf is a professor in the Business Administration Program at Trent University where she specializes in the field of communications. She is currently working on her doctorate in Leadership and Organizational Change, and is also an experienced international speaker, writer, instructor and professional communication coach. She has been widely quoted in both Canadian and American publications, including being featured in Canadian Living. A native of Peterborough, Diane has lived and worked abroad and has a strong affinity for the Kawarthas.  Diane combines a warm, interactive style with extensive communications experience and a critical, insightful approach. She is active in the region, having served on the Board of the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, is a founding director of the James Fund for Neuroblastoma Research, and is an active outdoor enthusiast in her somewhat limited spare time. She is pleased to be part of the Kawartha Heritage Conservancy as her recently minted grandmother status has given her a renewed appreciation for the issues of environmental sustainability for future generations.

Advisors

Tony Tilly

Dr. Tony Tilly is an educator with a long history of involvement in Ontario’s college system. In 2004, Dr. Tilly was appointed President of Fleming College.  He is currently leading the implementation of a five-year strategic plan focusing on excellence in student learning, superior services, environmental issues and sustainability, enrolment growth, community success and human resources. Tony and his family live in Peterborough and are long-time Kawartha cottagers, first on Buckhorn Lake and then for twenty-five years on Stoney Lake.

David Carruthers

David Carruthers is a registered professional planner and self-professed mapping geek. He spent the past ten years working with communities from the eastern Arctic to the west coast of Canada, building what he calls “prosperous connections” at the intersection of environmental health and community well-being. Before moving to Toronto in 2002, David was Manager of the BC Conservation Mapping Consortium in Victoria and Director of Planning with Ecotrust Canada in Vancouver. David is the founder of the Aboriginal Mapping Network and Toronto’s Community Planning Lab.
